How much does a sewing class or clothes upcycling workshop cost?

I offer both public sewing classes and private lessons.

The cost of the public sewing class or clothes upcycling workshop is $120 per person. These run for 3 hours with a maximum of 4 people per class to allow adequate time for personalised attention.

My private sewing lessons run for 2 hours ($200) or 3 hours ($300).  Private lessons are perfect for those who want to learn quickly at their own pace.

Private group and corporate workshops, covering sewing, clothing upcycling and altering, and sustainability workshop, are also accommodated. More information »

I don't have a sewing machine. Are they provided?

Yes, sewing machines are available for people who don’t have their own.

While it’s better to learn using your own sewing machine, I understand that some people might like to “try sewing” before they invest in their own machine.

I have my own sewing machine. Can I bring it?

Yes, please bring your own sewing machine if you have one.

I prefer one-on-one learning. Do you offer personalised workshops?

Absolutely!  Private lessons are available.

Do you offer tailored workshops for a group of friends or corporate clients?

Absolutely!  Workshops can be adapted for groups of all sizes.

Tailored workshops can be held at my Northern Beaches workshop or at a location of your choosing.

Can teenagers attend the workshops?

Yes, teens aged 13-18 are welcome.  Parental consent is required for attendees under 16 years.

Can children attend the workshops?

Yes, I run dedicated Kids Sewing Classes for children.

Children aged 13 years and under must be supervised by an attending parent or guardian. This is to ensure safety whilst chidren are using sewing machines and sharp tools. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me directly.

Do you have Working With Children authorisation?

Yes, my WWC number is WWC3084198E.

In NSW, the Working With Children Check is undertaken by The Office of the Children’s Guardian, is an independent statutory authority in NSW Government. their role is to protect children in NSW by promoting and regulating quality, child safe organisations and services.

Is onsite parking available?

Yes, onsite parking is available in the driveway however this is limited to two cars only.

There is free, untimed parking available across the road or in nearby side streets.

After signing up for a class or workshop, you will be sent the workshop address with maps and parking options outlined.  If you’re concerned about parking, please contact me directly.

Note: Attendees are responsible for finding their own parking and should plan accordingly to ensure they arrive on time.

Is there disability access?

There is no disability access.

Attendees will be required to access the workshop room via a gently sloping driveway from the street, followed by seven stairs.

If you have any concerns regarding accessibility, please contact me prior to the Workshop to discuss your options.

Will there be tea and coffee available? Will there be anything to eat?

During the Workshops, light refreshments (tea and coffee) and snacks (usually a freshly baked cake, biscuits, muffins or something deliciously sweet) will be available for attendees to enjoy.

If you have any specific dietary requirements, please feel free to bring your own snacks.

Note: We cannot cater to the specific dietary or allergy requirements of individual attendees and are not responsible for any allergies or specific dietary requirements of attendees. Participants are encouraged to inform us of any dietary restrictions beforehand, but it remains the responsibility of attendees to ensure their own safety regarding food and beverage consumption.

If I don't finish my project can I stay longer?

Most classes run to predectermined times as specified in the workshop details. If a class is scheduled after yours, there may not be time to stay longer and complete your project. If there is no class scheduled after yours, I can often continue the workshop a little longer so you can get you project finished.  There are no guarantees however.

Do I have to bring my own fabric? Do I have to bring sewing equipment and other items like threads, elastic, etc?

It depends on the class.  Sometimes I provide fabric (usually upcycled) however, if you prefer to use your own, you’re more than welcome to bring it along.

I do provide all sewing equipment (including sewing machines, if needed) along with basics like elastic, thread, buttons, etc.

Note: I offer a limited choice of supplies If you would like to use more specific equipment, you are welcome to bring it along.

I don't want to use recycled fabric. Is that OK?

Yes, of course.  Feel free to bring new or used fabric.  The choice is completely yours and there is no judgement either way.

What if I am sick on the day or can't make it due to personal reasons? Can I get a refund?

If you need to cancel your attendance, please notify me as soon as possible.

Full refunds will only be provided for cancellations made at least 48 hours before the start of the Workshop. Because these are very small classes, this provides enough time for me to find a replacement to ensure there are sufficient numbers for the workshop to proceed.

Cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to the start of the Workshop will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of the workshop cost.

Alternatively, you may transfer your workshop attendance to another party (i.e. a friend or family member) if you are unable to attend.  If another person is taking your place, please notify me at least 3 hours before the commencement of the Workshop so we can provide them with the necessary information.

Note: Before paying for a workshop or class, please familiarise yourself with all terms and conditions here »  Refunds will be processed as soon as possible, but please allow up to 3 business days for the transaction to be completed. The time it takes for the refund to appear in your bank account may vary depending on your bank’s processing times. It is the responsibility of attendees to provide their bank account details for direct deposit processing. Refunds cannot be made to credit cards.

If I can't make it, can a friend take my place?

Yes, if you can’t make it, a friend is welcome to take your place.

If another person is taking your place, please notify me at least 3 hours before the commencement of the Workshop so we can provide them with the necessary information.
