Perfect for those who are confident with beginner sewing skills and ready to take the next step, this hands-on intermediate sewing class will guide you from basic techniques to creating your own clothes.

You’ll learn essential garment construction skills, including clothing structure, fabric selection, seam allowances, darts, hemming, and closures. Bring along clothing designs you love, and together, we’ll explore how they’re made and discuss the steps to sew them yourself.

Students are encouraged to bring along a few garments they like so we can discuss how they’ve been made.

Bring your sewing machine or, if you don’t own one yet, that’s no problem. I have machines available for use making them a great way to try sewing before investing in your own machine.

Small classes: This is a small group class with a maximum of 4 people to ensure ample attention is given to each person.

Location: Classes are held at Frenchs Forest on the Northern Beaches (near Northern Beaches Hospital). There plenty of free, untimed parking. There is a bus stop within easy (level) walking distance.

Sorry, I am not currently running any public intermediate sewing classes during April / May. If you want to take your sewing to the next level, you may be interested in my private sewing lessons. These can be run at a date / time that suits you. Alternatively, private group sewing classes can be organised for groups of 4 people or more.

ABOUT THIS CLASS

Intermediate Sewing Classes Sydney

Are you ready to take the next step in your sewing journey? My Intermediate Sewing Class is perfect for those who want to start making their own clothes but are not sure where to begin.

In this fun and practical sewing class, we’ll explore how clothing is structured.

Bring along some clothing designs you love, and we can disconstruct how they’re made so you can get started sewing something similar yourself.

If you’re looking to build your sewing confidence and start creating garments that fit your style, my intermediate sewingclass will give you the skills and confidence to make it happen!

Note: This class does not include pattern making or how to read a pattern. During a three hour class, there is not enough time available to cover this.

In this class, I’ll cover

Learn the basics of clothing construction.
Choose the right fabric for your project.
Understand seam allowances and how they work.
Master darts for shaping and fit.
Finish fabric edges with hemming techniques.
Explore different closures to fasten your garment.

Clothing construction ideas

Students are encouraged to bring along clothing designs they love, and together, we’ll analyse how they’re made and discuss the steps to recreate them. If time permits, you can get started on your first project.

Sewing Machine

This is a hands-on class and attendees can bring their own sewing machine. If you don’t have your own sewing machine, I have ones available for use during the class.

Duration and Cost

3 hours – $120 (includes GST)

If you’re an NDIS participant, you may be able to claim the cost of your sewing lessons under your plan. Speak with your support coordinator or plan manager to find out if it’s covered as part of your funding.

Attendees

Maximum: 4 people

This is a small, group class with a maximum of 4 people. This allows ample time for one-on-one attention allocated to each attendee.

Location

Classes and workshops are held at Frenchs Forest on the Northern Beaches, Sydney (near Northern Beaches Hospital). There is plenty of free, untimed street parking across the road from the workshop and a bus stop is within easy walking. After placing your booking, you’ll be sent the address, along with parking and other information.
